GaadiWaadi –

The newly unveiled Yamaha Aerox E and EC-06 are all set to go on sale in H1 2026 while more new models and updates are waiting in the pipeline across different segments

Yamaha Motor India is chasing after one of its most ambitious phases ever as it prepares to introduce a range of electric and premium two-wheelers in 2026. Central to this vision is a lineup of ten all-new two-wheeler models which includes electrified vehicles and over 20 updated models. The strategy has been unveiled in an event that saw the launch/debut of four all-new offerings.

Yesterday, the Japanese auto major introduced the long-awaited XSR 155 neo-retro roadster in India carrying a price tag of Rs. 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom) while the FZ Rave also greeted the media for a price of Rs. 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom). The company’s first all-electric scooters for India, the Aerox E and EC-06 based on River Indie, also made their global premiere.

The zero-emission scooter duo is all set to reach customers in the first half of 2026. Unlike most mass market players that are chasing volume through affordable EVs, Yamaha is adopting a distinctly different approach. The company is taking on a multi-pathway strategy – exploring electric mobility as well ad hybrid, bio-fuel and hydrogen-based powertrains for India as well as abroad.

Upcoming Yamaha 2-Wheelers

Yamaha has identified the Indian market as a key pillar for its growth globally. The company’s Chennai plant is being considered a major hub for future premium and possibly electric vehicle manufacturing. India’s growing appetite for stylish, high performance scooters and motorcycles could push them into new realms but the concrete information on the products lineup for India are not known yet.

To accelerate its EV journey, Yamaha recently invested nearly USD 40 million in Bengaluru-based River Mobility to leverage local innovation and technological expertise. The partnership could also pave the way for co-developed platforms and shared supply chain strategies with the EC-06 being the first of many. The brand has also confirmed that its electric range for India will not be limited to low-speed or entry-level models.

Yamaha has made it clear that the pace of introduction will depend heavily on factors like charging infrastructure development, battery cost dynamics and overall market readiness. Its long-term commitment includes developing a strong ecosystem that supports new-age riders – integrating connectivity, smart mobility solutions and sustainable materials.
