Nissan Gravite and Tekton are launching in the first two months of CY2026 ahead of the arrival of a three-row premium SUV next FY

Nissan Motor India’s comeback strategy is finally moving from intent to execution with two completely new models confirmed for launch in quick succession. Kicking things off will be the Gravite MPV in the first month of the new calendar year followed by the more important Tekton midsize SUV in February 2026.

Based on the CMF-A platform, the same architecture underpinning the Renault Triber, the Gravite will be manufactured at the Oragadam plant in Tamil Nadu with high localisation. Nissan has confirmed that bookings will open in January while customer deliveries are scheduled to begin by March 2026 across India.

In terms of positioning, the Gravite will offer seven-seat flexibility with a focus on modularity. Early teasers reveal a noticeably different design approach compared to the Triber, especially at the front, where a wide blacked-out fascia and slim LED light bar create a new look. At the rear, horizontally laid LED tail lamps, an upright tailgate and Gravite badging will be available.

Powering the Gravite will be two petrol engine options – a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated unit and a more powerful 1.0-litre turbo petrol. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer. Pricing is expected to be a major draw with the MPV likely to start below Rs. 6 lakh (ex-showroom) – placing it directly against the Triber and entry-level hatchbacks.

While the Gravite targets volume, the Tekton SUV will shoulder the responsibility of brand revival. Slated for an official debut at Nissan’s resurgence event in February, the Tekton will compete in the fiercely contested midsize SUV segment against models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Tata Sierra, Tata Curvv, Mahindra Scorpio N, etc.

Under the skin, the Tekton will sit on the all-new CMF-B platform – shared with the next-gen Renault Duster. The same architecture will later spawn a three-row SUV planned for FY2027. As for styling, the Nissan Tekton will take plenty of inspiration from Nissan’s global SUVs featuring an upright stance, squared proportions, C-shaped LED lighting and a full-width rear light bar.

Although official engine specifications are yet to be disclosed, turbo-petrol options paired with manual and automatic transmissions are expected at launch with hybrid and AWD variants likely to follow.
