MPV choices in India may be limited, especially in the electric category, but that’s set to change this month with the launch of two models
The MPV segment is poised for an exciting time in India this month, with two new models set to be launched. One of those two will be India’s first locally manufactured electric MPV, setting a new milestone in the country’s automotive industry.
1. MG M9
First showcased at Auto Expo 2025, the MG M9 will be a luxury MPV measuring 5,200 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, with a 3,200 mm wheelbase. Confirmed to be sold via the new MG Select dealerships, it will be a luxurious seven-seat people mover designed for ultimate comfort. It is expected to be launched at the end of July.

A 90 kWh NMC battery pack that delivers a range of 548 km as per internal testing will be standard. Charging it via a 160 kW DC charger will take one and a half hours, while via an 11 kW AC charger, it will take approximately ten hours.
2. Kia Carens Clavis EV
The Kia Carens Clavis EV will be the pure electric derivative of the recently launched Kia Carens Clavis, the facelifted version of the Kia Carens. It will have seven seats and deliver a range of 490 km with a 51.4 kWh NMC battery pack. A standard-range variant with a 42 kWh NMC battery pack is also likely to be offered. The standard-range variant’s motor could produce 99 kW (133 hp) and the long-range variant’s motor could generate 126 kW (169 hp).
