2026 Hyundai Verna is expected to launch in India in early next year with cosmetic updates and a revised interior while no mechanical changes are likely
The Hyundai Verna’s story in India began in 2006 when it replaced the long-running Hyundai Accent – setting the stage for what would become one of the most popular sedans in its class. The first generation Verna was well received offering 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options before the arrival of a facelift four years later.
However, it was the second generation in 2011 that redefined the Verna’s identity courtesy of the “Fluidic Sculpture” design language before the facelift came into existence in 2015. The third-gen, launched in 2017, was built on Hyundai’s K2 platform enabling a larger and sportier stance with a coupe-like roofline, an electric sunroof, ventilated seats, etc.
In 2023, Hyundai introduced the fourth generation Verna and despite being a major overhaul it couldn’t replicate the success of its predecessors due to multiple reasons which include the decline in midsize sedan segment’s popularity. Now, the second largest car producer in the country is developing the facelifted version as spy shots have started arriving in recent weeks.

As you might expect, the 2026 Hyundai Verna will get visual changes to extend the lifespan of the existing generation. The latest spy images show a heavily wrapped prototype hiding its exterior details. However, on closer inspection, it is clear that the new Verna will only get subtle revisions such as a revised hexagonal grille section and front bumper.
It could help bring a slightly more upright profile the latest Verna desperately needs while the fog lamp housing also seems new. The light bars at the front and rear could be retained while the alloy wheel and bonnet designs could be carried over. On the inside, it will get a curved display integrating a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument console.

The steering wheel also appears to be new while the dashboard and centre console along with surface trims and materials could receive notable changes as well. However, the existing 1.5L NA petrol, 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engines may stay the same. It will be available with both manual and automatic transmission choices.
