Tata Motors will introduce multiple premium SUVs in the Indian market in the next 12-24 months, including the Avinya range
Tata Motors is working on multiple new models to expand its SUV range in the Indian market. The company already has four SUVs on sale in the domestic market in the form of Punch, Nexon, Harrier and Safari. Now, it is planning to launch a new line-up of premium SUVs in the country with radical design and advanced features. The upcoming Tata premium SUVs will be launched in the coming 12-24 months in India. In this piece, we will talk about these models in detail.
1. Tata Sierra
Tata Sierra is making a comeback in the Indian market in both ICE and EV versions. The reincarnated version of India’s one of the most popular SUVs during the 90s was showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Recently, the SUV was captured on camera, indicating that it is in the final stages of testing. In fact, Tata Motors held a special preview of the Sierra in a bright yellow shade for its dealer partners a few days back.

Tata Sierra takes styling cues from the original Sierra of the 90s with a boxy design, upright stance and extended last row. It is believed that the EV model will source the 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs from the Harrier EV while it goes on sale before the ICE version which will debut the all-new 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine alongside the tried-and-trusted 2.0L diesel engine.
2. Tata Avinya
Tata Motors unveiled the Avinya concept at the 2022 Auto Expo and the first model based on it will go on sale in 2027. The Avinya range will comprise of five models which have been internally codenamed as P1, P2, P3, P4 and P5. The first model P1, being the production-ready version of the Avinya concept, has entered development and it will be locally manufactured at the brand’s factory in Sanand, Gujarat.
The Avinya range will be Tata’s first born-electric SUVs as they will use the Gen 3 skateboard EV architecture. It was supposed to launch in 2025 initially but delays happened due to the platform sharing agreement with Land Rover. Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover had signed an MoU for using the latter’s EMA platform, but due to JLR’s production facility in Tamil Nadu getting deferred, the company had to push the Avinya launch to 2027.

3. Tata Avinya X
Tata Motors held the world premiere of the Avinya X coupe-SUV concept at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. It is likely to spawn the P4 model from the Avinya range. Though details are scarce at the moment, it is learnt that it will debut by the end of 2027. The Avinya X, based on JLR’s EMA architecture, will be one of the most expensive Tata EVs till date with an estimated price of around Rs 35-40 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be rolled out with multiple battery options, 500+ km range, fast-charging compatibility and Level 2 ADAS suite.
