The festive season of Diwali is nearly a couple of months away and 3 leading automakers are ready to launch their new models during this time. We will witness Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors launching their most awaited SUVs in the Indian market. The festive season of Diwali is considered auspicious for buying new vehicles and hence, OEMs put maximum efforts to leverage this and introduce new models to increase footfall in the showrooms. In this piece, we will talk about the most awaited SUVs launching this year by key auto brands in India.
1. Maruti Escudo
Maruti Suzuki will introduce a new 5-seater SUV on Sep 3, 2025 in the Indian market. Codenamed as Y17, it was initially supposed to come as a three-row, seven-seater model while based on the Grand Vitara. However, Maruti later revised its plans and developed it as a 5-seater SUV to rival the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in the Indian market. It will be a feature rich offering which will be sold via the regular Arena dealerships of Maruti Suzuki.

Maruti Escudo has been spotted multiple times during its test runs. It will share the platform and engine choices with the Grand Vitara. The Escudo midsize SUV will be available with non-hybrid and strong hybrid powertrains. Several media reports claim that it will be longer than the Grand Vitara. The Escudo will be positioned between the Brezza and Grand Vitara. It is expected to come in a price range of Rs 10-18 lakh (ex-showroom).
2. New-Gen Hyundai Venue
The new-gen Hyundai Venue will launch in Oct 2025 in the Indian market. Recently, the new-gen model was spied testing with heavy camouflage. However, we could still notice the Creta-like quad headlamps and DRLs. It will borrow multiple features from various global SUVs of Hyundai such as connected DRLs, restyled 16-inch alloy wheels and all four disc brakes.

The current-gen Hyundai Venue comes with Level 1 ADAS tech. However, the new-gen SUV is expected to come with Level 2 ADAS suite with a host of advanced safety features. The cabin will feature a redesigned dashboard which will be inspired from the Creta and Alcazar. It is likely to boast of ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof and bigger touchscreen infotainment system. Mechanically, the new-gen Venue will continue to carry the same petrol and diesel engines.
3. Tata Sierra
Tata Motors will launch the Sierra by the end of 2025 in the Indian market. To be available in ICE as well as EV versions, it was showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo in pre-production form. Tata Sierra will debut the brand’s all-new naturally-aspirated 1.5L petrol engine in the lower variants while the higher trims will get the 1.5L turbocharged petrol unit, which debuted at the 2023 Auto Expo. Tata Sierra will flaunt a boxy design and cabin features will be borrowed from the Harrier and Curvv.
