Hyundai and Kia are expected to introduce three new compact SUVs (one ICE and two EVs) within the next 12 months in India
Both Hyundai and Kia appear set to strengthen their product footprints in India with a series of new SUVs as they are all set to enter various segments. Over the coming year, as many as three new offerings are expected in the compact SUV space. Below is a quick look at what could be on the horizon as they look to further expand their volume sales:
1. New Gen Hyundai Venue:
Hyundai is in the process of readying the next-generation Venue for a market debut around the festive season. Test prototypes have been sighted multiple times on Indian roads offering a glimpse of what lies ahead. On the outside, the compact SUV will boast a refreshed appearance with revisions to the front fascia, a reworked rear and new alloy wheels.
The interior, too, is expected to undergo a substantial redesign hinting at a more extensive update than a typical refresh. Features such as Level 2 ADAS system and a panoramic sunroof could make their way into the lineup. As for the mechanicals, the familiar 1.2L NA petrol, the 1.5L turbo diesel and a 1.0L turbo petrol engines will likely carry over.
2. Hyundai Compact EV:
Hyundai’s forward-looking strategy for India seems to be leaning more into electric mobility. Among the developments taking shape could be a compact battery-powered SUV that may draw its foundations from the global Inster Electric. It is expected to arrive in 2026 and could be equipped with two battery options with a claimed range going well over 450 km between charges.
Once launched, it could find itself positioned directly against models such as the Tata Punch EV and the upcoming electric version of the Mahindra XUV 3XO. As for the interior, a large touchscreen display, digital instrumentation, six airbags as standard, sunroof, etc will be offered.
3. Kia Syros Electric:
Kia introduced the Syros ICE a few months ago and within the span of the last three months, the Carens Clavis ICE and Clavis EV went on sale. Next up, the Korean brand appears to be developing a zero-emission iteration of the Syros and it could be introduced sometime next year as well.
