4 New Mass Market EVs Waiting To Launch In 2026 In India

GaadiWaadi –

Four new electric cars with a starting price in the 10-20 lakh range headed to Indian showrooms next year

2025 saw key EV launches like the BE 6, XEV 9e, XEV 9S, and Carens Clavis Electric, and the 2026, too, will be a year of EVs. No less than four mass-market EVs are set to arrive in Indian showrooms next year.

1&2. Maruti e Vitara & Tata Sierra.ev coming in early 2026

The Maruti e Vitara will be the first new EV to be launched next year and should go on sale in January. The Hyundai Creta Electric rival will be one of the company’s most advanced cars to date, equipped with features like a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, 10-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, 40:20:40-split rear seat with reclining and sliding functionality, and seven airbags.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara

Maruti Suzuki will offer the e Vitara in a standard-range FWD variant and an extended-range FWD variant. The company has confirmed that the latter will travel up to 543 kilometres on a single charge.

The Tata Sierra.ev is expected to be introduced by March, about a month or two after the ICE variant goes on sale. The pure electric variant of the Sierra will be available in single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD variants, meaning it will be more off-road capable right from launch.

It should come with a frunk, one-pedal driving, vehicle-to-load (V2l) bi-directional charging, and several other additional features over the ICE model.

3&4. New Mahindra & Kia EVs also in the pipeline

Mahindra is developing a pure electric variant of the XUV 3XO, and this model will directly compete with the Tata Nexon.ev. It will be smaller and more affordable than the XUV400, which hasn’t performed well in the market. The new Mahindra EV is expected to have a ~35 kWh NMC battery pack, which could deliver a range of approximately 400 kilometres. Mahindra may launch its new entry-level electric model sometime in the first half of 2026.

In mid-2026, Kia will likely launch the Syros EV as its second locally manufactured electric model. Save for a redesigned grille, a new front bumper, and unique 17-inch wheels, all aimed at improved aerodynamic efficiency, the Syros EV should look identical to its ICE donor. Inside, too, save for the upholstery, trim, and a few EV-specific functions in the cockpit displays, the Syros EV will likely have the same design.

The Kia Syros EV may come with an LFP battery pack comprising cells sourced locally from Exide Energy. The LFP cell chemistry and local sourcing would allow Kia to price the Syros EV competitively.
