The manufacturing of the electric SUV has already commenced at the brand’s Hansalpur, Gujarat-based facility. The electric SUV will be available in two battery pack options, i.e. 49 kWh and 61 kWh, with the latter claiming a range of around 500 kilometres on a single charge. The India-spec model is expected to get a single motor front-wheel drive configuration.

Expected to launch in India sometime next year, the test mules of the new Seltos have already been spotted on multiple occasions. Internally codenamed SP3i, the mid-size SUV will get a completely new exterior design. It is also expected to be bigger in terms of dimensions than the current model. The India-spec model will continue with the familiar 1.5 NA petrol, 1.5 tGDi petrol and 1.5 CRDi diesel engines. Kia is also expected to offer a strong hybrid powertrain with the new-gen Seltos.

Based on the CMF-B platform, the new-gen Renault Duster is expected to be powered by a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, putting out 154 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. The company is also evaluating a localised hybrid powertrain for the mid-size SUV. In terms of design, the Duster will largely resemble the international spec model, however, some India-specific changes are expected to be a part of the package.

Inside the cabin, we can expect minor changes to the layout, along with the addition of new features like panoramic sunroof, 360-degree parking camera and Level 2 ADAS. Nissan has already given a small glimpse of its upcoming mid-size SUV in the Indian market, which is expected to go on sale in the first half of 2026. Dubbed the Tekton, it will be based on the Renault Duster, using the familiar CMF-B platform. Expected to go on sale in early 2026, the Tekton SUV will share the powertrain with the Duster, i.e. the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, tuned to produce 154 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. As per the company, the design of the mid-size SUV is inspired by the flagship Patrol SUV.

7. Honda Elevate Hybrid

Honda is working on the strong hybrid version of the Elevate for the Indian market. Expected to debut in the second half of 2026, it will likely utilise the familiar 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine paired to two electric motors, shared with the City e:HEV. Currently, the midsize SUV is only available with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC naturally aspirated petrol engine. The major advantage of the strong hybrid powertrain setup will be its exceptional fuel efficiency numbers, and we expect around 26-27 kmpl in the case of Elevate.
