At least five new compact SUVs coming to Indian showrooms in the next two years with most launches likely by 2026-27
The compact SUV segment, one of the largest and fastest-growing categories in India, will see some major new product action in the near future. Spy shots and media reports suggest no less than five new compact SUVs are coming in the next two years.
1. Mahindra XUV 3XO EV

Sometime in early 2026, Mahindra will likely launch the pure electric variant of the XUV 3XO, positioned below the XUV400 and designed to compete with Tata Motors’ hot-selling Nexon EV. Expected to be offered with a 35 kWh NMC battery pack, the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV could be priced from around 14 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).
2. Hyundai Bayon

The current Hyundai Bayon is not offered in India, but the next-gen model is coming in mid-2026 and will serve as a Maruti Fronx rival. Sharing platform with the next-gen i20, the future model will likely be differentiated from the Venue with a greater emphasis on style than space and practicality. It is expected to debut an all-new 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and could be offered with a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine as well.
3. New Maruti Brezza

The Maruti Brezza is expected to get a facelift in the second half of next year. Besides typical updates like revised bumpers, tweaked headlights and tail lights, and new alloy wheels, the sub-4 metre SUV is expected to receive a light bar connecting the tail lights. Ventilated seats, a 360º camera system, and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems could be among the new features of the facelifted Vitara Brezza.
4. Mahindra Vision S

In 2027, Mahindra will likely launch the production version of the Vision S concept, potentially under the Scorpio series. The new rugged SUV will be based on the company’s new NU_IQ monocoque platform and likely be launched with 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine options. Its platform supports full electrification, so a pure electric powertrain could follow later this decade.
5. New Maruti Fronx Hybrid

The Maruti Fronx will undergo its mid-cycle refresh in 2027 and debut a series-hybrid powertrain with this update. The first-ever Maruti Fronx Hybrid will feature a modified version of the Z12E 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that only serves as a generator. An electric motor will send power to the wheels. The series-hybrid system is expected to deliver an impressive fuel economy of over 35 km/l.
