Yamaha has entered the high-performance electric scooter arena with the debut of the Aerox-E performance EV in India – extending its globally recognised maxi sports lineup. The new Aerox-E builds upon the standard ICE Aerox 155. At the heart of the Aerox-E is a 9.4 kW electric motor producing 48 Nm of torque enabling instant throttle response and peppy acceleration.
Powering the motor are dual detachable 3 kWh lithium-ion batteries that use high energy density cells to deliver consistent performance according to the brand. Designed with ergonomic grips, these batteries can be easily removed for home charging. Riders can choose from Eco, Standard and Power modes – adapting performance to different riding conditions.
The Yamaha Aerox-E also features a Boost function that unleashes extra acceleration for quick bursts of speed while a reverse mode should help add to everyday practicality. With a certified riding range of 106 km on a single charge, the scooter could attract buyers seeking an EV for city use and short weekend runs perhaps.
As for the design, the Aerox-E stays in line with the styling philosophy we have already seen from the IC-engined variant. Its body stance, bulky proportions and distinctive X-centre motif highlight its sporty character. The scooter comes equipped with twin LED Class-D headlights, LED indicators and a 3D-effect LED tail lamp.
A large colour TFT display provides turn-by-turn navigation while Y-Connect mobile app integration adds features such as maintenance reminders, last-parked location and ride analytics. The front and rear disc brakes with single-channel ABS system do the stopping duties while suspension geometry has been tuned for stability and agile cornering according to Yamaha.
Equipped with a smart key system and a convenient external charging port, the Aerox-E Performance EV combines Yamaha’s design language, technology, and thrilling dynamics to set a fresh benchmark in the premium electric two-wheeler segment. It captures the essence of speed, sophistication, and sustainability in one forward-looking package.
