Yamaha XSR 155 uses the same 155 cc liquid-cooled engine as the R15 V4 and MT-15 V2 with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) tech
Yamaha has finally introduced the long-anticipated XSR 155 in India, entering the country’s fast-growing neo-retro motorcycle segment. Priced at Rs. 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the new model combines classic design with Yamaha’s proven performance essence. It targets riders seeking a stylish step-up from ordinary commuters yet without moving into the heavier 200 cc category.
Powering the motorcycle is a 155 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with Yamaha’s Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology. The motor delivers 18.1 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm with energetic top-end performance and strong mid-range pull. The unit is mated to a six-speed gearbox and an assist & slipper clutch comes standard.
Under the skin, the XSR 155 shares its deltabox frame with the R15 and MT-15. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in tubeless tyres while braking is handled by a 282 mm front disc and a 220 mm rear disc. It gains dual-channel ABS system and traction control as standard as well. Suspension duties are managed by upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock.

In terms of design, the XSR 155 captures the retro appeal of Yamaha’s global XSR line. The round LED headlamp, teardrop-style fuel tank and flat single-piece seat create a classic yet modern retro stance. Despite its old-school styling, the bike is loaded with features like a full-digital instrument cluster, LED lighting all around and premium body finishes and it has a 10-litre fuel tank.
