The Vision AI Companion on 2025 Samsung TVs can answer questions and translate dialog

Samsung’s 2025 TVs in the Neo QLED, Micro RGB, OLED and QLED series feature a new conversational AI – the Samsung Vision AI Companion.

Samsung says that unlike a typical AI assistant, which is designed to be used on individual devices, this AI is “purpose-built for the communal screen”. In other words, you use your phone by yourself, while the TV can be used by multiple people at once.

The Vision AI Companion has a Live Translate mode – this is a real-time translation of dialog in TVs and movies. This allows you to watch content in your own language, even if there is no dubbing.

There are AI Picture, AVA Pro and AI Upscaling Pro modes, which optimize picture and audio quality – this is great for pre-4K and even pre-FHD content. AI Gaming Mode does something similar for games, it is a responsive, AI-powered optimization for video and audio.

Just like on your phone, you can create new Generative Wallpapers for your TV.

The Samsung Vision AI Companion is built for natural dialog – it understands context and follow-up questions without getting tripped up. The dedicated AI buttons on the remote controls for new Samsung TVs offer instant access to the assistant.

You can press it and ask for recommendations – e.g. “Can you recommend a movie for Christmas?” or “What’s the best way to grill pork belly?” and you’ll get a list of suggestions of movies and videos to watch.

The AI doesn’t just rely on encyclopedic knowledge, though. You can ask it “What’s the weather like in December?” and it will pull up-to-date information to give you an answer.

This is a multimodal AI, that’s where the “Vision” in the name comes from. You can ask it questions about what’s on screen – a movie or a sports event. This is based on an upgraded Bixby experience, but third-party services are supported too – you can talk to Microsoft Copilot or Perplexity, for example.

Right now, the Samsung Vision AI Companion supports 10 languages including English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian and Korean. The One UI Tizen platform will receive OS upgrades for seven years, keeping your TV current with new features.
