Mahindra XEV 9S will go on sale on November 27 and it will become the brand’s first all-electric three-row offering
Mahindra & Mahindra has dropped yet another teaser for the upcoming XEV 9S and this time around confirming some of the details seen on the XUV.e8 concept unveiled just over three years ago. The SUV will be equipped with a stacked headlamp layout – ditching the familiar lighting pattern seen on the current ICE XUV 700 to differentiate itself.
The boomerang-shaped LED DRL, new Twin Peaks logo and a shark fin antenna at the back and portion of the tail lamps have been seen in the latest teaser. Meanwhile, Mahindra continues to drip-feed cabin details though only from the first two rows. The wide triple screen panel dominates the dashboard – matching the digital-heavy approach seen across the brand’s born electric offerings like the XEV 9e and BE 6. What Mahindra is not showing is the third row which is where the real packaging puzzle lies.
Fitting a functional third row without compromising space is no simple exercise and the company appears in no hurry to reveal how it has tackled that and we all know that the INGLO platform is modular in nature. Curiously, the rear section is far less mysterious. The tailgate, lighting pattern and overall stance look very close to the XUV 700.

Compared to the BE 6, the XEV 9S seems taller and more upright – in line with its role as a family-focused three-row EV. When it launches on 27 November, the XEV 9S will become Mahindra’s third born-electric SUV after the XEV 9e and BE 6. Given that all three models share the same architecture, the XEV 9S is expected to carry forward similar battery and motor outputs.
Any deviations will likely stem from its added weight which could marginally influence range and performance figures and we still expect it to deliver over 500 km driving range on a single charge in real-world conditions. The equipment will comprise a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated seats with message and memory functions.

The Mahindra XEV 9S will also be high on safety as both the XEV 9e and BE 6 are rated five stars. It will also get Level 2 ADAS functionalities like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind spot detection and more.
