BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe gets a host of upgrades inside and out along with new features; market launch to happen on July 17
BMW India has officially opened pre-launch bookings for the second generation 2 Series Gran Coupe in the domestic market. Scheduled to go on sale on July 17, 2025, the new model can now be reserved through any authorised BMW dealership or via the brand’s online sales portal. The new iteration of the 2 Series Gran Coupe will roll out from BMW’s manufacturing facility in Chennai.
While the car retains its signature low-slung silhouette, its design has been notably reworked. The exterior now leans into sharper proportions while the cabin receives a complete revamp with the addition of new features and technologies. BMW’s widescreen curved display comprising a 10.25-inch digital instrument console and a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system takes centre stage on the redesigned dashboard – supported by the brand’s latest Operating System 9.
The second-gen BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe also benefits from a thoroughly reworked powertrain, updated suspension system and a more advanced suite of driver assistance features. The interior boasts fewer physical controls as the majority of functions are integrated into the infotainment system. It also gets massage seats at the front and a panoramic glass sunroof.
The 2025 2 Series Gran Coupe’s powertrain lineup comprises 216, 220, 223 xDrive and M235 xDrive petrol trims globally while the diesel range includes the 218d and 220d. Power output across the variants ranges from 120 hp to 296 hp – paired uniformly with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The performance-spec M235 xDrive comes with a 0-100 kmph time of just 4.9 seconds and a top speed of up to 250 kmph. Select variants – the 220, 223 xDrive, and 220d – are equipped with 48-volt mild-hybrid tech for improved efficiency. An integrated electric motor, housed within the transmission, adds around 20 hp and 55 Nm of torque while the energy recuperated during braking is stored in a 0.9 kWh lithium-ion battery tucked under the boot floor.
