HMD is expanding its reach to the enterprise and government/defense sectors via its HMD Secure division. Its latest device is the Terra M, which HMD classifies as an ultra-rugged “smart feature phone” with an enterprise-ready OS, and its target group includes critical infrastructure operators, military personnel, law enforcement agents, first responders, government and enterprise employees.

Terra M brings military-grade durability, conforming to the MIL-STD-810H standard while also featuring IP68 and IP69K ingress protection. HMD Secure brings Mobile Device Management (MDM) for secure fleet management and also offers pre-loaded enterprise apps for seamless deployment.

The device is equipped with a 2.8-inch glove-friendly touchscreen, a programmable Push-to-Talk and an emergency key. It also brings Qualcomm’s DragonwingTM QCM229 chipset and features 4G connectivity with VoLTE, VoWi-Fi, hotspot mode, and eSIM support. It runs a custom operating system with HMD pledging 5 years of quarterly security updates.

Terra M packs a 2,510 mAh battery rated at 10 days of standby and features optional accessories, including a charging cradle and belt clip.

HMD did not reveal the Terra M’s full specs just yet. The device is expected to launch in Q1 2026.
