Mahindra Vision S based compact SUV will be underpinned by the NU_IQ monocoque platform and it could sit below the Scorpio
The Vision S, first seen as a concept during the brand’s Freedom_NU showcase back in August, has now returned in heavily camouflaged production form, suggesting that development is entering the next phase phase ahead of its expected 2027 market entry. At the heart of this upcoming model is Mahindra’s all-new NU_IQ monocoque platform.
It is being developed to support multiple SUVs that are coming out in a couple of years’ time. What makes Vision S particularly interesting is its possible positioning within Mahindra’s portfolio. Rather than being a direct replacement for an existing model, it appears to sit between the Scorpio line and Mahindra’s upcoming sub-4m SUV range that could include a crossover.
The “S” badging hints at Scorpio’s influence but this version looks set to reinterpret that identity in a more compact and modern format. Recent spy images reveal a squared-off silhouette with pronounced wheel arches, upright stance and a rear-mounted spare wheel. The tall overhangs point towards its possible spacious nature while the overall proportions suggest it will be more manageable than a Scorpio.

Earlier test mules were misidentified as the next Bolero but clearer details now confirm it is a Vision S-based prototype. Previous spy shots have indicated that it will get second-row assist handles, a semi-digital instrument layout with a colour MID and what appears to be a large panoramic sunroof.
The homegrown manufacturer has already hinted that even its iconic nameplates could eventually make the switch to electrification. While a battery-powered Scorpio is still in speculation for now, the monocoque Vision S could eventually support such a transition if the company decides to go down that route. We also know that the Scorpio N based pickup truck and a Thar Roxx based EV are also arriving in the near future.

As for the production-spec Mahindra Vision S, we can expect it to target high volume sales and it could share engine options with the XUV 3XO which has been well received by consumers.
