Tata Motors recently unveiled the all-new Sierra in India, positioning it as a competitor in the mid-size SUV segment. The detailed specs and features will be revealed on November 25, along with the price announcement. The SUV sports a long list of features, some of which are seen on a Tata car for the first time. In this article, we will look at the 5 new features of the Sierra that are a first for Tata Motors.
1. Triple-Screen Setup
The new Sierra features an all-new triple screen dashboard layout, featuring a driver’s display, infotainment system and a passenger screen. It is a first-in-segment feature in the mid-size SUV category, and also a first for Tata Motors. The screens are expected to come with connected car tech and built-in apps, along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

2. JBL Audio System With Sound Bar
The Tata Sierra comes equipped with a 12-speaker premium JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos. This setup also integrates a dashboard-mounted SonicShaft soundbar, positioned below the centre AC vents, for an immersive audio experience.
3. Adjustable Under-Thigh Support & Extendable Sun Visors
Tata Motors has offered the first-in-segment adjustable under-thigh support for front seats. Although the adjustment function is manual, it is still a good feature to have, especially for tall passengers. In addition to this, the sun visors are also extendable to enhance the overall functionality. The downwards extension is useful for the front windshield, while the outward extension, after being detached from its default position, provides better coverage for side windows.

4. Auxiliary Tail Lamps
The Sierra gets an auxiliary tail lamp setup, which works when the boot lid is open, providing an extra layer of safety and convenience at night. This is quite a unique feature, especially in the mass-market segment, apart from being a first for Tata Motors.
5. New 1.5-litre tGDi Petrol Engine
While this is not necessarily a feature, a new engine is always appreciated. Tata Motors will debut the 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with the Sierra, which is a part of the brand’s Hyperion powertrain line-up. The new motor is expected to produce 168 bhp and 280 Nm of peak torque, available with the option of both manual and automatic transmissions.
