Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 have crossed the 30,000 unit sales milestone as they completed it in just seven months

Mahindra’s gamble on its INGLO platform with the XEV 9e and BE 6 appears to be paying off faster than even optimistic forecasts suggested. The two SUVs have crossed the 30,000 unit sales milestone as they completed it in just seven months – effectively meaning one unit has found a new home every 10 minutes. For a category still considered “evolving” in India, it is a statement.

What’s equally significant is the kind of customer base these models have pulled in. Around 80 per cent of the buyers are first-time Mahindra customers, many coming from premium or tech-focused backgrounds. Their design, digital interfaces and lifestyle appeal carry as much weight as acceleration figures and charging times – creating a transformation in buying preferences.

More than 65 per cent of owners use them consistently during the workweek, pointing to genuine trust in their real world usability. Over 1,000 vehicles have already clocked beyond 20,000 km in under a year with several crossing the 50,000 km mark – a level of usage that usually takes much longer in the EV segment. Around 70 per cent of owners are covering over 1,000 km a month with a notable chunk exceeding 3,000 km monthly.

Range anxiety, one of the biggest EV concerns, also seems to be gradually fading for many of these users. Nearly 60 per cent of owners are reportedly achieving over 500 km of city driving on a single charge. From sub-zero conditions in Leh to extreme desert heat in Rajasthan, the vehicles have been driven across temperature extremes ranging between 4°C and 53°C – testing both battery resilience and thermal management well beyond controlled lab environments.

The BE 6, in particular, is quickly turning into a cult product with owners experimenting with custom modifications and visual upgrades. Collaborations including a special edition themed around Batman generated massive traction with the 999 unit production run disappearing just in minutes. Cross industry tie-ups such as integration into a popular Indian mobile game have helped the brand connect with a younger audience.

From a financial perspective, the impact has been equally strong. Mahindra’s electric division claims the top position in revenue market share for the first half of FY26 with sales crossing the Rs. 8,000 crore mark in the same period. Building on the momentum, Mahindra is all set to introduce its first all-electric three-row offering, the XEV 9S, tomorrow in Bengaluru.
