Mahindra XEV 9S is packed with upmarket equipment right from the base variant and is the brand’s first all-electric three-row SUV
Mahindra has officially taken the wraps off its all-new XEV 9S, marking its entry into the electric 7-seater SUV space with an aggressive starting price of Rs. 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as a family-focused, tech-heavy electric SUV, the XEV 9S becomes the first three-row EV from the brand and is positioned well below its premium rivals, clearly aiming for strong volumes from urban and tech-savvy buyers.
Built on Mahindra’s dedicated INGLO electric-origin architecture, the XEV 9S isn’t a converted ICE product. The flat-floor layout translates into massive interior space, with Mahindra claiming over 4,000 litres of usable room across the first two rows, along with a 527-litre boot and a 150-litre frunk. A tight 10-metre turning circle and 205 mm ground clearance add practicality for crowded city conditions and rough Indian roads.
Powertrain options are spread across three battery packs — 59 kWh, 70 kWh and 79 kWh — paired with motors producing up to 210 kW and 380 Nm of torque. Mahindra claims a real-world driving range close to 500 km and a 0–100 km/h sprint time of just 7 seconds, making it the quickest electric 7-seater currently on sale in India. Fast charging support allows the battery to charge from 20 to 80 percent in under 20 minutes using a DC fast charger.

Inside, the XEV 9S feels more like a luxury lounge than a conventional SUV cabin. The dashboard features a futuristic coast-to-coast triple-screen layout powered by Qualcomm’s latest chipset. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos and Mahindra’s MAIA AI-based interface are part of the package. Higher variants also get augmented reality head-up display, AutoPark Assist and an advanced driver monitoring system.
Second-row comfort is a big focus here. The seats come with boss mode, ventilation, sliding and reclining functions, wireless charging and powered adjustments. Mahindra has also added features like acoustic laminated glass, rear sunshades and multi-zone climate control to enhance long-distance comfort for occupants.

Safety has been treated seriously too. The XEV 9S offers up to seven airbags including a driver knee airbag, Level 2+ ADAS with multiple radars and cameras, brake-by-wire technology, blind view monitoring and intelligent emergency braking. The platform also supports Mahindra’s Secure360 Pro with live vehicle surveillance for top variants.
Buyers can choose between three trims — Pack One, Pack Two and Pack Three. The top-spec Pack Three Above with the 79 kWh battery is priced at Rs. 29.45 lakh and offers features like adaptive suspension, advanced ADAS hardware, powered co-driver seat and enhanced connectivity options.
Bookings will start from January 14, 2026, with test drives beginning earlier on January 5. Mahindra plans to commence deliveries from January 23, 2026. With running costs claimed at under Rs. 1.2/km and extremely low maintenance expenses, the XEV 9S is not just a technology showcase, but a strong long-term ownership proposition for large Indian families transitioning to electric mobility.
