BMW F 450 GS uses a 420 cc parallel-twin motor with 135-degree crankpin offset; produces 48 hp and 43 Nm
BMW Motorrad is readying the F 450 GS for its entry into the Indian market and the motorcycle is expected to go on sale in January 2026. Sitting beneath the F 850 GS in BMW’s adventure lineup, the adv was first showcased at EICMA 2025 and has already started appearing in a few overseas markets. Its manufacturing has commenced at TVS’ Hosur plant.
The BMW F 450 GS features a commanding upright riding posture, a pointed beak-style front section and an X-shaped LED headlamp – giving it a familiar yet more approachable adventure motorcycle look. The reduced dimensions aim to make the motorcycle more manageable without taking away its strong visual presence on the road.
At the heart of the motorcycle is a newly developed 420 cc parallel-twin motor that uses a 135-degree crankpin offset. The setup is intended to enhance character and improve power delivery while keeping vibrations in check – thanks to a balance shaft. The engine is rated at 48 hp and 43 Nm of torque and is paired with a six-speed transmission that comes fitted with a slipper and assist clutch as standard.

BMW claims a fuel efficiency figure of close to 3.8 litres per 100 km which should offer a riding range of over 350 km in global markets. Among the highlights is a semi-automatic clutch system that reduces the need for regular clutch input during slow-speed manoeuvres – in congested traffic and on rough terrain. On the GS Trophy trim, the Shift Assistant Pro comes as standard whereas lower variants get it as an optional extra.
The motorcycle is built on an all-new tubular steel frame and weighs around 178 kg. Suspension is supplied by KYB with 43 mm upside-down forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. More premium variants receive an adjustable setup. For braking, a Brembo unit is used at the front while ByBre components handle duties at the rear.

These are supported by electronic safety nets such as traction control, cornering ABS, Dynamic Brake Control and engine brake management. The F 450 GS will be available in four variants – Basic, Exclusive, Sport and GS Trophy. With each step up in the range, the bike gains additional adventure-ready equipment including off-road focused footpegs, aluminium bash plates, hand guards, enhanced suspension hardware and unique colour schemes like Racing Red and Racing Blue Metallic.
Standard riding modes include Rain, Road and Enduro while Enduro Pro is reserved for the higher versions. A 6.5-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth, navigation support and smartphone connectivity is also included along with heated grips and a USB-C charging point. If BMW chooses an aggressive pricing strategy, the F 450 GS could enter the Indian market at an estimated starting price of around Rs 4.70 lakh (ex-showroom).

Its arrival coincides with a major milestone for the TVS-BMW alliance, as the partnership formed in 2013 has now crossed the two lakh production mark. Motorcycles such as the G 310 R, G 310 GS and G 310 RR have contributed heavily to this success and the new F 450 GS is expected to become a key player in BMW’s sub-500 cc and mid-capacity adventure segment in India as well as globally.
