Mahindra XUV 7XO will make its debut on January 5, 2026 and it will essentially be a revised version of the XUV 700 with more upscale bits

Following the successful rebrand of the XUV 300 to XUV 3XO, Mahindra & Mahindra is looking to implement a similar strategy to its more premium XUV 700. Since its market launch in 2021, the nameplate has been synonymous with garnering high volumes despite being an upmarket offering. Recently, Mahindra introduced the XEV 9S based on the XUV.e8 concept and it has visual similarities with the XUV 700 too.

Now, Mahindra is planning to introduce the updated version of the XUV 700 under the new banner called XUV 7XO and its world premiere has been confirmed to happen on January 5, 2026. The home-grown SUV manufacturer has also released a teaser video previewing portions of the front and rear profiles as the new LED arrangement can be clearly seen.

The teaser indicates the presence of a boomerang-shaped LED Daytime Running Light at the front while the rear gets an inverted L-shaped lighting signature connected by a horizontal light bar. Both elements appear to have taken inspiration from the XEV 9S. We expect new colour schemes and alloy wheels, redesigned grille section and bumpers to be part of the package.

However, we do not expect any revisions to its overall proportions and its existing 2.2L mHawk diesel and 2.0L mStallion petrol engines may continue. Both six-speed manual and six-speed torque converter automatic transmissions to likely stay put. The major changes will undoubtedly occur inside the cabin as it will boast a triple screen setup as the XEV 9S and XEV 9E besides 5G connectivity, Boss mode and built-in Alexa support.

It will become the first ICE-powered Mahindra SUV to feature this layout and expect similar connectivity options and UI as its born electric siblings. The dashboard and centre console as well as HVAC vents and steering wheel along with surface trims and materials will be brand new. Currently, the XUV 700 is priced between Rs. 13.66 lakh and Rs. 25.14 lakh (ex-showroom) and we do expect the prices to go slightly higher in the upcoming rebranded version.

More intriguingly, even the XEV 9S’ base variant is loaded with features including Level 2 ADAS for Rs. 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom) and it will be interesting to see how the XUV 7XO is pitched relative to its zero-emission sibling. It is yet unknown whether the existing XUV 700 will continue in its present state and form alongside the XUV 7XO.
