Renault is all set to introduce the new generation Duster in India in January 2026 and it will be heavily localised
Renault has been seen putting the upcoming Duster through another round of road testing in India with a heavily wrapped prototype spotted again. Despite the camouflage, the SUV’s boxy proportions, high bonnet line and overall stance leave little doubt about its identity – closely matching the version sold in global markets. The official launch is locked in for January 26, 2026 while a three-row derivative is expected to join the range at a later date.
The new model will not share its underpinnings, styling cues or mechanical components with the old version. Instead, it is built on a heavily localised CMF-B platform which has been reengineered specifically for Indian conditions and cost targets. Production duties will be handled at Renault’s Oragadam facility and it could be exported too.
The return of the Duster is central to Renault’s International Game Plan 2027. India plays a key role in this strategy and the Duster will act as the foundation for a renewed SUV-led lineup. In the pipeline are additional products including a budget-focused electric vehicle for and a larger three-row C-segment SUV in the near future.
When the original Duster arrived over a decade ago, it practically carved out the midsize SUV space on its own. That landscape has since transformed completely. Today, the segment is crowded with well-established rivals offering high levels of equipment, technology and safety and if the global model is anything to go by, we can expect a feature-packed Duster for India as well.
The upcoming SUV could feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and a 7-inch digital driver display. A raised centre console with an electronic gear selector and distinctive Y-themed trim elements across the dashboard and doors are also likely.
Features such as wireless phone charging, dual-zone climate control, fast Type-C charging ports, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, electronic stability control and a Level 2 ADAS suite are possible. While official powertrain details are still under wraps, the SUV is expected to launch with two petrol engine options, offered with both manual and automatic gearboxes.
