Following the Syros small SUV and the Carens Clavis MPV launches this year, Kia is set to double down on premium SUVs next year
Kia’s first blockbuster launch next year will be the next-gen Seltos, scheduled to arrive in showrooms in January. The all-new model has a polarising front with the headlamps integrated in a wider grille and tall DRL strips flanking them at the edges of the upper fascia. The geometric pattern and largely covered surfaces of the alloy wheels have also generated divided opinions.
On the good side, the all-new Seltos flanks more angular and sleeker side mirrors, flush-integrated door handles, and an EV5-inspired technical-looking rear. Inside, a cleaner dashboard featuring the Kia Trinity Panoramic Display gives the cabin a more upmarket look. A 10-way power driver seat with power lumbar support and a memory function, and 21 advanced driver assistance systems are some additional highlights of the all-new Seltos.
Kia will offer the 2026 Seltos with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine linked to a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT, a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT, and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine married to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The power and torque figures are no different from the outgoing model.

Towards the end of next year, Kia will likely launch the Sorento Hybrid, its global D-segment SUV that competes with the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid and the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. This model measures 4,815 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,700 mm in height and has a 2,815 mm wheelbase. Kia manufactures it in six- and seven-seat versions but may bring only the latter to India.
Kia will likely offer the Sorento Hybrid in India with features like Relaxation Comfort front seats with leg support and power lumbar support on the driver’s side, one-touch sliding and folding second-row seats, smart power tailgate, fingerprint recognition, USB Type-C ports in all three rows, a customisable head-up display, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.

The Kia Sorento Hybrid employs a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which together produce 176 kW (235 hp) and 380 Nm of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard, and it sends drive to the front wheels. An all-wheel drive system is available internationally, but we don’t expect it to be offered in India. According to Europe’s WLTP, the Sorento Hybrid delivers a fuel economy of 15.2 km/l in FWD and 14.3 km/l in AWD.
