Nissan C-SUV with a three-row seating will be introduced next FY and it will be heavily localised; expected to be packed with features

Nissan recently confirmed that its upcoming seven-seat B-segment MPV for India will wear the Gravite name with market debut slated for January 2026 before the commencement of deliveries a couple of months later – indicating the arrival of the first product under its renewed strategy for the domestic market which will involve two more new offerings.

While the Nissan Gravite will place a strong emphasise on seating flexibility, modular cabin usage and everyday practicality, the other two products which will be SUVs will target a different set of consumers in the midsize segment. The Nissan Tekton will be unveiled at the what has been dubbed the resurgence event in February 2026.

It will go on sale soon after and will be based on the heavily localised CMF-B platform shared with the new-gen Renault Duster which will be introduced next month. A new three-row C-SUV will arrive in the next financial year and it will have a lot in common with the five-seater Tekton. We expect two petrol engines to be offered at least initially while a hybrid version could be considered for the future.

The 7-seater C-segment SUV will spawn a Renault sibling as well – based on the Boreal sold in the international markets which in turn takes plenty of inspiration from the Dacia Bigster. It is worth noting that the fourth generation Nissan X-Trail was launched in India in August 2024 as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) imported from Japan but its sales numbers were modest.

Instead, the upcoming C-SUV will bank on high local content as it will sit on the same architecture as the Tekton and it could emphasise interior space. Expect a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a fully-digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, multiple airbags, dual-pane sunroof, Level 2 ADAS tech, etc to be available.

Just as the Tekton which has already been teased multiple times and spotted on public roads wearing camouflage, the C-SUV will draw huge influence from the legendary Patrol as the presence of an upright front fascia with prominent lighting elements, pronounced haunches, muscular bonnet, aggressive-looking bumpers, large-sized alloy wheels and sculpted tailgate are possible.
