Tata has already confirmed to debut the Avinya late next year with the first model likely being a sportback
Tata Motors has a long lineup of new zero-emission vehicles waiting to launch over the next five years and its immediate plan for 2026 was confirmed recently. Having already crossed 2.5 lakh electric vehicle sales in just five years – with the Nexon EV alone surpassing the 1 lakh mark – Tata is paying its attention towards a more premium portfolio.
The brand will officially introduce three new EVs next year: the Sierra EV, a refreshed Punch EV and the first model from its all-new Avinya electric sub-brand. The Sierra EV will be among the earliest arrivals. Building on the strong response to the ICE Sierra, the electric version will use two battery pack options and is expected to deliver a real-world range of more than 500 km on a single charge.
It will sit in the midsize electric SUV space and act as Tata’s bridge between mainstream EVs and more aspirational offerings. The upcoming Punch EV facelift, due in H1 2026, will continue to appeal to mass market buyers with revisions inside and out. Where things get far more ambitious is with Avinya. Slated to debut towards the end of CY2026, Avinya is not a single product but a family of electric vehicles positioned above Tata’s current portfolio.

Internally, Tata has mapped out five Avinya models, codenamed P1 through P5, that will span multiple body styles including a sportback, SUVs and a large luxury utility vehicle. The first Avinya model, P1, will reportedly be a sportback-inspired EV based closely on the Avinya concept shown in 2022. Expected to be priced north of Rs. 35 lakh, it will be responsible for a planned annual volume of around 24,000 units.
This model will be manufactured at Tata’s Sanand facility, previously acquired from Ford. Larger and more conventional body styles will follow. The P4 is expected to be a lifestyle SUV comparable in size to a Range Rover Velar while the P5 will sit at the top as a full-size, three-row luxury SUV. Tata is also evaluating a 4.4-metre compact premium SUV and a near-5-metre luxury MPV-style EV.

All Avinya models will be underpinned by Jaguar Land Rover’s born-electric EMA platform, which Tata has licensed and will localise for India. This architecture supports advanced ADAS, software-defined vehicle capabilities, over-the-air updates and next-generation electrical systems.
