The MPV segment will witness a slew of activity over the next couple of years from automakers including Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai
The MPV space is heading into a new growth phase with multiple manufacturers preparing new models over the next couple of years. Carmakers including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Nissan and Citroen are developing people-movers across electric and ICE formats – targeting mass-market as well as more premium segments. Here we have brought you a rundown of all the possible arrivals:
1. Maruti Suzuki Compact MPV:

Maruti Suzuki is reportedly working on a new compact MPV that will be positioned below the Ertiga in the sub-four-metre category. Expected to arrive around 2027–28, the upcoming people-mover is said to draw inspiration from the JDM-spec Spacia in terms of design philosophy and space utilisation. The focus will be on maximising cabin room within a compact footprint while keeping costs in check. Under the hood, it is likely to feature a locally developed strong-hybrid petrol powertrain.
2. Hyundai Premium MPV:

Expected to sit at the premium end of the MPV space, the vehicle is widely believed to take inspiration from Hyundai’s globally sold Stargazer both in terms of design language and positioning. It will be interesting to see how Hyundai approaches the MPV as the category is dominated by a select few players currently in limited segments.

3. Maruti Suzuki YMC:

Maruti Suzuki is developing a new three-row electric MPV internally codenamed YMC. It is expected to be positioned above the e Vitara in the brand’s EV range. The YMC, likely arrive in late 2026 or early 2027 will share battery packs, electric motors and key electrical components with its midsize e-SUV sibling. The upcoming MPV could also give rise to a Toyota-derived counterpart in the near future.
4. Citroen e Spacetourer:

Citroën is reportedly evaluating the introduction of the e-Spacetourer in India. Globally, the electric MPV is offered in multiple configurations including both standard and extended wheelbase versions appealing to different space requirements. Powering the e-Spacetourer is a 75 kWh battery pack which provides a claimed driving range of up to 348 km on a single charge.

5. Nissan Gravite:

Nissan is all set to launch a new three-row MPV to its Indian portfolio dubbed the Gravite which will be underpinned by the same architecture found in Renault Triber. To launch in January 2026 before the commencement of deliveries around March, it will leverage high localisation that will be central to Nissan’s pricing strategy. The seven-seater is expected to be offered with the familiar 1.0-litre petrol motor in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms.
