Nissan Tekton will likely be equipped with two turbo petrol engines paired with manual and automatic transmission options
As part of its turnaround plans for India, Nissan has lined up two key product introductions in early 2026, beginning with the Gravite MPV in January, followed by the all-new Tekton midsize SUV in February. While the Gravite will serve as the brand’s first launch of the year with deliveries commencing in March 2026, Nissan has also confirmed that development is underway for a future seven-seat SUV aimed at both Indian and international markets.
The Tekton will announce Nissan’s re-entry into the highly competitive midsize SUV category where it will lock horns with heavyweights such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Mahindra Scorpio N and Tata Sierra. The SUV is scheduled to be showcased at Nissan’s India resurgence event in February 2026 and is expected to play a central role in strengthening the company’s market presence.
Engine specifications have not been officially confirmed but the Tekton is expected to debut with turbocharged petrol powertrains paired with manual and automatic transmissions. Nissan may also introduce a strong-hybrid option at a later stage while select higher trims could offer an all-wheel-drive system.

While interior details remain under wraps, the cabin is expected to be feature-rich with a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, premium soft-touch materials and a comprehensive ADAS suite. Additional equipment could include ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, wireless charging, automatic climate control and six airbags.
In terms of styling, Nissan has drawn inspiration from its larger global SUVs particularly the Patrol. The Tekton is expected to feature an upright stance with squared-off proportions, a bold grille flanked by C-shaped LED headlamps, a sculpted bonnet and a strong shoulder line. At the rear, design highlights are likely to include a full-width LED light bar, integrated spoiler and prominent Tekton branding.

Mechanically, the Tekton will share its foundation with the next-gen Renault Duster launching on Jan 26, 2026 and it will ride on the CMF-B architecture that has been heavily localised to suit Indian road and usage conditions while adhering to global safety norms. Manufacturing will take place at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai and the same platform will later underpin additional derivatives.
