In CY 2025, Maruti Suzuki dominated every single month supported by its vast portfolio comprising entry-level hatchbacks to high volume SUVs
Maruti Suzuki retained its unchallenged leadership in the calendar year 2025 – finishing the year with 18,33,748 units sold. The brand dominated every single month, supported by its vast portfolio comprising entry-level hatchbacks to high volume SUVs. The festive-season demand in October with 2.50 lakh units and consistent monthly performance ensured Maruti Suzuki stayed far ahead of rivals.
Telangana contributed close to 49,000 units – adding further strength to its overall numbers as per vehicle registration data. The Indo-Japanese manufacturer introduced the Victoris midsize SUV a few months ago and it has been well received by customers. The SUV range will be further expanded with the arrival of Brezza facelift and e Vitara soon.
Mahindra & Mahindra secured the second position with 6,07,447 units in the last CY. The SUV-focused automaker benefited from continuous demand for models like Scorpio, Bolero, XUV 700, XUV 3XO and Thar with a notable spike in October and November driven by festive buying. All the top brands saw sales boost in the latter part of the year courtesy of the arrival of GST 2.0 tax relaxations.

The resultant price cuts mainly in the compact segment encouraged buyers to go for their new purchases. Tata Motors finished very closely in the third position with 5,91,702 units sold in CY2025. The acceptance of its SUV lineup including top volume drivers like Nexon and Punch along with its electric vehicles grabbing consistent volumes added to the overall tally.
October emerged as the strongest month with over 80,000 units indicating festive demand and improved supply. Hyundai Motor India rounded out the top four with 5,75,570 units in the period between January and December 2025. The Korean brand saw consistent volumes across the year, led by Creta and Venue with the latter receiving a new generation recently.

While Hyundai trailed Tata and Mahindra marginally as the Indian brands really stepped up their game in recent years, it maintained steady month-on-month performance and recorded appreciable festive season numbers. The calendar year 2026 is shaping up to see plenty of activity in the compact and midsize SUV spaces while a host of new EVs are waiting in the pipeline across the board as well.
