2025 was the first full year of sales for the MG Windsor EV, and right from the beginning, it is dominating the Indian electric car market
JSW MG Motor has announced that the MG Windsor EV was India’s best-selling electric car in 2025. The company sold 46,735 units of the electric crossover last year. Although this is the wholesale figure, meaning the number of cars the company dispatched to its dealerships, not the number of cars delivered to customers, it is still an impressive record.
JSW MG Motor has realised that its forte lies more in EVs than ICE models and has leveraged its Chinese association to rapidly expand its presence in this category. The company launched the ZS EV as its first electric model and has expanded its line-up to five EVs in six years. Interestingly, it is the only mass-market brand to have more electric models in its portfolio than ICE models (three).
The ZS EV and Comet EV are locally assembled like the Windsor EV, but they are not nearly as popular as the latter. The Cyberster and M9 are pricey CBU imports and are aimed more at improving brand image than generating high-volume sales.

At the beginning of this month, JSW MG Motor stated 70,554 as the wholesale figure of its entire car line-up for 2025. The latest announcement reveals that approximately 66% of its total car shipments last year were of the MG Windsor EV. Including the quantities of the Comet EV, ZS EV, Cyberster, and M9, it’s safe to assume that more than two-thirds of its 2025 sales came from electric models.
The MG Windsor EV measures 4,295 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,677 mm in height and has a 2,700 mm wheelbase. It is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 100 kW (134 bhp) and 200 Nm of torque. Customers get a choice of 38 kWh and 52.9 kWh LFP battery packs, which deliver a range of 332 kilometres and 449 kilometres, respectively.
