Yamaha XSR 155 accounted for over a quarter of the brand’s total volumes in December 2025 in the domestic market
Yamaha garnered total domestic sales of 54,914 units last month with a 49.3 per cent year-on-year jump over 36,780 units recorded during the same month the previous year. The surge was largely due to the painstakingly long-awaited introduction of the XSR 155 which immediately emerged as the brand’s highest-selling model for the month.
With 14,951 units dispatched in its first full sales window, the neo-retro motorcycle alone accounted for over a quarter of Yamaha’s total volumes locally. The RayZR continued to be a strong seller by registering 14,153 units in December 2025 compared to 12,002 units a year earlier with a notable 17.92 per cent YoY growth.
In the third position was the FZ range which clocked 10,291 units – up from 8,558 units in December 2024 with a healthy 20.25 per cent increase. Performance-oriented offerings also posted decent gains. The R15 supersport range recorded sales of 5,453 units by increasing from 4,269 units in 2025 which resulted in a 27.73 per cent YoY increase.

In contrast, the premium R3 and MT-03 twins remained underwhelming with sales dropping from four units to just two units. On the flip side, several established nameplates saw a decline. The Fascino slipped to 4,630 units from 5,475 units with a drop of 15.43 per cent while the MT-15 fell by 15.72 per cent to 4,403 units.
The Aerox scooter also registered a contraction with sales declining 17.39 per cent to 1,031 units. Despite these setbacks, the sheer scale of XSR 155 volumes ensured Yamaha posted an appreciable December performance to close out the year on a high. Introduced in November 2025, the XSR 155 is powered by a 155 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine equipped with Yamaha’s Variable Valve Actuation technology.

Producing 18.1 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm, the motor comes mated to a six-speed gearbox and features an assist and slipper clutch as standard. Built around Yamaha’s Deltabox frame shared with the R15 and MT-15, the motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and is equipped with USD front forks and a rear monoshock. Braking duties are handled by a 282 mm front disc and a 220 mm rear disc – supported by dual-channel ABS and traction control.
Design highlights include a round LED headlamp, teardrop-style fuel tank, flat single-piece seat and a full-digital instrument cluster. With a 10-litre fuel tank, aluminium swingarm, upright ergonomics and multiple colour and accessory options, the XSR 155 competes with the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and TVS Ronin primarily.
