After doubling down on EVs over the last twelve months, Mahindra lines up multiple new ICE SUV and pickup truck models for debut/launch by 2027

Following the launch of the BE 6, XEV 9e, XEV 9S, and XUV 3XO EV, Mahindra is now shifting its focus towards more high-volume, ICE models. The company is working on multiple new petrol- and diesel-powered products, and recently, a convoy of test mules of its upcoming SUV and pickup truck models were spied together.

Some of the test mules spied recently were of the Mahindra Vision S concept’s production version. Expected to be a third addition to the Mahindra Scorpio family, this will be a compact SUV featuring old-school proportions and a rugged styling that appeals to purists.

Based on the NU_IQ monocoque platform, the Vision S concept’s production version should have better road manners and offer better ride comfort than the body-on-frame Scorpio models currently on sale.

Mahindra Vision S

It will be available with features like ventilated front seats, a two-spoke steering wheel similar to the Mahindra XUV 7XO, and a digital instrument cluster. It is expected to be introduced with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine in 2027.

Also part of the convoy was the facelifted Mahindra Scorpio-N, expected to go on sale by April this year. The upcoming Scorpio-N will feature redesigned bumpers, a new radiator grille and lower grille, tweaked headlamps and tail lamps, and new 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Interior updates could include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and new trim and upholstery. The engine and transmission options are expected to be the same as the current model.

Mahindra Thar Facelift

Another interesting upcoming Mahindra model in the convoy of test mules was the facelifted Thar, which could be launched in the third quarter of the year. This version will feature a new six-slot grille and LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs, both borrowed from the newer Thar Roxx. Inside, Mahindra may introduce a wireless smartphone charger, ventilated front seats, and push-button start for enhanced convenience and comfort. This update is unlikely to bring any mechanical changes.

Lastly, the convoy also included the Mahindra Scorpio Pik Up, a global pickup truck derived from the Scorpio-N. It is expected to be larger and more upmarket than the Scorpio Getaway and will be offered in single-cab and dual-cab versions.

The Scorpio Pik Up is likely to be offered with premium features like 18-inch bi-tone alloy wheels, a single-pane sunroof, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and ventilated front seats. The engine and transmission options should be shared with the Scorio-N. Mahindra could launch the new pickup truck in international markets like South Africa and Australia later this year, and later in India.
