The month of January 2026 marks a significant milestone for Tata Motors, with the Nexon and Punch registering their best-ever monthly sales
Tata Motors started the year 2026 on a high note as it recorded the highest-ever total monthly sales of 71,066 units, a 47.1% growth over the previous year. Similarly, the domestic sales stood at 70,222 units (48,076 units in January 2025), marking a 46.1% YOY growth.
Talking about the exports, the company posted sales of 844 units, up from 240 units in January 2025, registering a 251.7% YOY growth. The Indian carmaker is the leading EV manufacturer in the Indian market, as it saw a 72.7% growth in the electric vehicle sales, climbing from 5,240 units in January 2025 to 9,052 units in January 2026.
The Nexon continued to be the brand’s top performer with over 23,000 units in the bag. The compact SUV achieved its best-ever monthly sales in January 2026, breaching the prestigious 10 lakh milestone in cumulative sales.

The Tata Punch also saw its strongest-ever monthly sales of over 19,000 units. It crossed the cumulative sales milestone of 7 lakh units in just 4 years and 3 months, which the company claims to be the fastest in the industry.
Tata Motors’ most affordable offering, the Tiago, also joined the bandwagon, as it crossed cumulative sales of 7 lakh units. Apart from these, the fresh launches, including the Sierra, as well as petrol-powered Harrier and Safari, contributed to the overall sales growth.

The launch of the Tata Sierra in December 2025 created a lot of buzz in the Indian automotive market, and its deliveries commenced in January 2026. As per the company, the production of the mid-size SUV is being ramped up progressively to meet exceptional customer demand.
Tata Motors is also ready to launch the Sierra EV in the coming weeks, while the Punch EV facelift and Tiago EV facelift are also on the cards for this year. The Nexon will receive its next-generation model, most probably by late 2026 or early 2027. The much-awaited Avinya nameplate is also due for a launch around the same timeline.
