Two new brawny SUVs from Mahindra, targeted at old-school SUV buyers and off-road enthusiasts, coming in the next twelve months
Mahindra is working on several new SUVs, including all-new models based on its future NU_IQ platform, as well as updated versions of existing models. Recently, two of its future SUVs expected to arrive in showrooms within the next twelve months were spotted together. One of them was the Vision S concept’s production version, and the other was a facelifted Thar.
The production version of the Mahindra Vision S will be a sub-4 metre SUV, potentially a third model in the Scorpio range. Positioned above the XUV 3XO, it will be based on the new indigenously developed NU_IQ platform and stand out in the crowded segment with an authentic SUV character.
While the Vision S concept features inverted L-shaped headlamps, the test mule of the production version appears to have round headlamps that reinforce its old-school SUV styling. That said, whether the new look translates to the final vehicle that arrives in showrooms remains to be known.

What we can confirm for now is that it will possess a commanding stance with a high ground clearance, upright front and rear fascias, a straight roofline, squarish windows, and chunky cladding all around the body.
Inside, the new production version of the Vision S concept will continue the proper SUV look with an upright dashboard featuring vertical AC vents and an analogue instrument cluster. It will feature a conventional parking brake instead of an electronic one.

A panoramic sunroof will be available in the higher trims, and ventilated front seats, a wireless smartphone charger, and a touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility are also expected.
Mahindra will likely launch the new compact SUV with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine in early 2027. The facelifted Thar should arrive much earlier, possibly in the middle of this year.

The new Thar is unlikely to have any mechanical changes, but it will bring noticeable improvements in styling, particularly with a new six-slot grille and LED headlamps similar to the Thar Roxx. The facelifted off-road SUV should pack new interior features as well, such as passive keyless entry, ventilated front seats, and a wireless smartphone charger.
