Companies like Skoda, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Honda and Mercedes-Benz will bring in new or updated sedans this calendar year in India
While the SUV and crossover segments have the upper hand in terms of volume numbers, the sedan space will witness plenty of action in the coming months as brand such as Skoda, VW, Hyundai, Honda and Mercedes-Benz are planning to introduce new models. Here we have brought you a rundown of them:
1. Skoda Octavia RS:

The Skoda Octavia RS has struck a chord with Indian enthusiasts ever since it made its comeback in 2025 as a limited-run offering. With just 100 units allocated for the market, the performance sedan was sold out in a matter of minutes. Riding on the back of this overwhelming response, the Czech automaker will bring in a new batch of the Octavia RS in the latter part of 2026.
2. Volkswagen Virtus Facelift:

The Volkswagen Virtus is slated to receive a mid-cycle update this year bringing visual revisions and a more feature-rich cabin. It will more likely mirror the changes found in the upcoming Taigun facelift. Mechanically, the facelifted Virtus is expected to carry forward the same 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo petrol engines with transmission options continuing to include DCT and possibly a new 8-speed AT.

3. Skoda Slavia Facelift:

The Virtus’ sibling, the Skoda Slavia, will also receive a mid-cycle update in 2026. It will boast a revised front fascia and rear while the interior could reminisce that of the recently updated Kushaq. It may also gain a new torque converter automatic transmission but the engine choices will be retained.
4. Hyundai Verna Facelift:

Hyundai is gearing up to launch the refreshed Verna in early 2026. Spy images point to a heavily reworked front end inspired by Hyundai’s global designs with a new grille layout, vertically stacked LED headlamps and redesigned bumpers while the rear is expected to gain a new LED light bar, bumper detailing, etc. Inside, Hyundai may introduce a more upmarket feel with a curved dual-screen layout similar to newer models in its lineup along with a new steering wheel and material upgrades.

5. New Honda City:

Honda is set to give the City another round of updates in the second half of 2026. Having already received a mid-cycle refresh in 2023, the upcoming update will help the City stay fresh against imminent facelifts of rivals like the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia. Styling revisions are expected to borrow cues from Honda’s global portfolio while the changes inside are likely to be evolutionary with updated trims and upholstery along with new features. Under the hood, Honda is expected to retain the existing powertrains.
6. Mercedes-Benz CLA EV:

Mercedes-Benz has officially confirmed the India launch of the all-electric CLA for April 2026 where it will take over as the brand’s new entry-level EV while effectively replacing the A-Class sedan, EQA and EQB in the local lineup. Expected to be priced at around Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom), the CLA EV will likely to be based on the CLA 250+ and could feature an 85 kWh battery paired with a rear-wheel-drive motor producing 268 hp and 335 Nm with a claimed WLTP range of up to 792 km.
