The MPV segment will witness a flurry of activity up and down the price range as new models are waiting in the pipeline over the next 2 years

The MPV segment will witness a major revival as several carmakers prepare new people-movers for India over the next few years. Both ICE-powered and electric MPVs in the are pipeline appealing from budget-conscious family buyers to luxury customers. Brands such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz and Citroen are developing new models and here is a brief look at them:

1. Nissan Gravite:

Nissan is looking to expand its presence in the MPV space with the introduction of the Gravite, a new three-row MPV slated to debut on February 17, 2026. Based on the CMF-A platform that also underpins the Renault Triber, the seven-seater will rely heavily on localisation to keep costs competitive. customer deliveries are likely to commence around March.

2. Mercedes-Benz V-Class:

Mercedes-Benz has officially confirmed the return of the V-Class MPV to India with its launch scheduled for March 3, 2026. Set to arrive as a CBU, the luxury model will sit at the top end of the MPV space and go head-to-head with the Toyota Vellfire and Lexus LM with prices expected to fall in the Rs 1–1.5 crore (ex-showroom) bracket. The new-gen V-Class will be offered in high-spec trims and will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine paired with a 9-speed automatic.

3. Maruti Suzuki Compact MPV:

Maruti Suzuki is said to be developing a brand new MPV that will sit below the Ertiga and fall under the sub-four-metre category with a market debut expected sometime around 2027. The model is understood to take cues from the Japan-spec Spacia. The emphasis will be on delivering a roomy and family-friendly cabin while maintaining aggressive cost targets. Power is likely to come from a locally engineered strong-hybrid petrol setup.

4. Hyundai Upmarket MPV:

Hyundai is expected to be readying a new MPV which could be positioned at the more upscale end of the segment. The model is widely tipped to borrow cues from the internationally sold Stargazer. With the MPV space still fairly rigid and split into sub-segments, Hyundai’s biggest challenge will be carving out a distinct identity.

5. Maruti Suzuki YMC:

Maruti Suzuki is understood to be expanding its electric portfolio with a dedicated three-row MPV – currently referred to internally as YMC. Slotted higher than the upcoming e Vitara, the MPV will reportedly borrow major hardware such as battery packs, electric motors and architecture from its midsize electric SUV sibling.

6. Citroen e Spacetourer:

Citroen is said to be studying the viability of bringing the all-electric e-Spacetourer to the Indian market. Sold internationally as a flexible people-mover, the electric MPV is available in both regular and long-wheelbase formats. Under the floor sits a 75 kWh battery pack which is claimed to deliver a driving range of up to 348 km between charges.
