No less than four new Volkswagen cars in multiple body styles coming to Indian showrooms in one and half years
Volkswagen has announced plans to conduct five launches in India this year, and most of them are likely to be new models. Next year, the company will also add a compact SUV to its Indian line-up. Towards the end of this month, Volkswagen will launch the Tayron exclusively in a fully loaded R-Line trim.
This will be the company’s Skoda Kodiaq rival, but positioned higher, equipped with exclusive features such as 19-inch alloy wheels, Level 2 ADAS functions, a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and more. The engine, transmission, and drivetrain layout will be the same, though.
Sometime between April and June, Volkswagen will expand the Tayron line-up with simpler-looking and lesser-equipped trims that are more affordable. While the Tayron R-Line could cost around 50 lakh rupees (ex-showroom), the regular Tayron could be priced from around 45 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

Also arriving in the second quarter will be the facelifted version of the VW Taigun. The redesigned model should feature redesigned bumpers, tweaked headlamps and tail lamps, and new 17-inch alloy wheels. Also expect new features like a light bar connecting the DRLs, an illuminated brand logo at the rear, ventilated rear seat (outboard positions), a panoramic sunroof, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The engine options will remain unchanged, but the 6-speed automatic transmission will be replaced by an 8-speed automatic unit.
Between July and September, a facelifted VW Virtus will follow. It will likely feature new headlamp and tail lamp graphics, restyled bumpers, and new 16-inch alloy wheels. Inside, expect a ventilated rear seat (outboard positions) and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster to be the main upgrades. Volkswagen will offer the new Virtus with the same engines as the current model, but it will give a new 8-speed automatic transmission option instead of the current model’s 6-speed automatic unit.

In the final quarter of the year, Volkswagen will likely restart deliveries of the Golf GTI. This will be the second batch of the hot hatch, and it could carry a slightly different price from the current 50,90,900 rupees (ex-showroom).
In mid-2027, Volkswagen will re-enter the sub-4 metre segment with a compact SUV. This model will be a corporate cousin of the Skoda Kylaq and should come with similar features. Volkswagen may launch it with a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 114 hp and 178 Nm of torque and a choice of 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmissions.
