In Jan 2026, Hero MotoCorp led the 2W retail sales charts ahead of Honda, TVS, Bajaj, Royal Enfield, Suzuki and Yamaha in India
The two-wheeler retail market began 2026 with total registrations reaching 18,52,870 units in January with a healthy 20.82 per cent year-on-year growth over 15,33,556 units sold during the same period last year. Hero MotoCorp retained its leadership position with 4,92,167 units retailed last month – up from 4,11,529 units a year ago.
The company added over 80,000 units in incremental volume with a 19.59 per cent growth and a commanding 26.56 per cent market share. Consistent demand for its commuter motorcycles and entry-level scooters continues to anchor its dominance. Honda followed in second place posting a tally of 4,72,938 units compared to 3,74,474 units the previous January.
With a volume jump of 98,464 units, Honda recorded a 26.29 per cent growth – slightly higher than Hero’s growth rate. Its market share stood at 25.52 per cent – supported by consistent performance from the Activa range and Shine motorcycles. TVS Motor Company secured the third spot with 3,64,241 units with a 26.15 per cent rise over 2,88,742 units sold in January 2025.

The company gained 75,499 additional units year-on-year and held a 19.66 per cent share. TVS continues to benefit from a versatile portfolio comprising commuters, electric and ICE scooters and performance-oriented offerings. Bajaj Auto recorded 1,95,752 units last month – up 12.23 per cent from 1,74,414 units a year earlier. While growth was relatively moderate compared to the top three, Bajaj maintained a 10.56 per cent market share.
Royal Enfield stood out with 1,06,398 units – registering a 35.14 per cent surge over 78,730 units. Among the rest of the top ten, Suzuki retailed 98,899 units – growing 11.26 per cent year-on-year while Yamaha posted 64,399 units with a 10.35 per cent increase. Ather emerged as the fastest-growing brand within the top ten – clocking 21,999 units and a sharp 67.97 per cent jump.

In the ninth position stood Ola Electric with a retail total of 7,516 units as against 24,413 units during the corresponding period twelve months ago with a YoY decline of 69.2 per cent. Greaves Electric Mobility’s Ampere rounded out the top ten with a total of 5,337 units as against 3,613 units with a surge of 47.72 units.
