Mahindra Scorpio N facelift and updated three-door Thar are waiting in the pipeline while Vision S based compact SUV based on NU_IQ platform is possible for 2027
Mahindra & Mahindra has outlined its product strategy for the near future during an investor meeting held yesterday – shedding light on upcoming launches and portfolio expansion plans for CY2026 and beyond. One of the key highlights shared was the impressive performance of Mahindra’s born electric SUV lineup. The company revealed that it has sold over 41,000 electric SUVs in just ten months – from the start of deliveries in March 2025 until January 31, 2026.
Collectively, these vehicles have covered 32.56 crore kilometres. In the IC-engined SUV segment, Mahindra recently launched the new XUV 7XO nameplate which acts a more premium and facelifted version of the XUV 700. In addition, two more internal combustion SUVs are scheduled to debut in calendar year 2026. Among these, the Scorpio range – comprising both Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic – is set to receive a mid-life update.
The second major ICE launch is expected to be a substantial refresh of the three-door Thar which has also been caught testing multiple times on public roads. The company’s portfolio has already seen the addition of two battery electric vehicles – the BE6 Formula E Edition and the three-row XEV 9S and two light commercial vehicles namely Bolero Camper and Bolero Pikup recently.

The more rugged and adventure iteration of the BE 6, widely speculated to be named the BE 6 Rall-E, has been making headlines for some time and is expected to be built on Mahindra’s dedicated skateboard-based EV platform. While it will likely retain much of the standard model’s mechanical setup including similar battery pack options and electric drivetrain components, it could get a more upright stance, enhanced ground clearance, chunkier wheels, protective body cladding and new styling elements.
Spotted undergoing road trials, the updated Scorpio N appears to carry only minor tweaks to its exterior design. The interior though may receive improved upholstery choices, refreshed trim elements, etc. Feature additions are also expected with the SUV potentially incorporating advanced driver assistance systems similar to those offered in Mahindra’s newer electric models.

Mechanically, no major changes are anticipated, as the current 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel powertrains are likely to continue unchanged. Since its introduction, the Mahindra Thar Roxx has built a solid fan following among buyers and recent spy shots of camouflaged prototypes indicate that some of its design cues may be adapted for the standard three-door Thar besides the addition of new features, updated tech and equipment levels. The Vision S based baby Scorpio N is awaited for early 2027 while a pickup truck based on Scorpio N is also coming.
