Tata Motors, Hyundai and Kia are expected to launch new compact electric SUVs soon in India and here we have listed them

The electric SUV segment in the compact and midsize categories will see plenty of new models arriving over the next two to three years. Here are three offerings from Tata Motors, Hyundai and Kia that are expected to launch within the next 12-15 months in India:

1. Tata Punch EV Facelift:

A few days ago, Tata Motors previewed the refreshed Punch EV ahead of its scheduled unveiling on February 20, 2026 – offering a glimpse of the revised exterior styling. The electric micro SUV gets a more upright front-end design – highlighted by a sealed grille layout that echoes the styling direction seen on the Harrier EV.

The lower fascia has been reshaped and now features a redesigned skid plate while newly styled aerodynamic alloy wheels similar to those seen on the Nexon EV add to its updated look. A new yellow exterior finish combined with a contrasting black roof is also available. Under the skin, the facelifted Punch EV is set to retain the current 25 kWh and 35 kWh battery pack choices with the claimed range going up to 365 km.

2. Hyundai Compact Electric SUV:

Hyundai looks to be carrying on with the development of a locally manufactured compact electric SUV codenamed HE1i with its India launch scheduled for 2027. Positioned in the sub-four-metre category, the upcoming EV may take structural cues and overall proportions from the global Inster concept but it will be extensively adapted to suit local driving conditions.

The five-seater is expected to offer two battery configurations with the top-end version projected to deliver a real-world driving range in the region of 300–350 kilometres on a full charge. It will compete with Tata Punch EV and lower variants of Tata Nexon EV amongst others.

Inside, the vehicle may get digital screens, connected tech and the latest convenience and safety features targetting first-time customers.
