Nissan Gravite sub-four-metre MPV derives power from a 1.0L NA and turbo petrol engines with manual and automatic transmission options

To be positioned in the highly competitive affordable MPV space, the Nissan Gravite is set to challenge established names such as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Expected to be priced between Rs. 5.6 lakh and Rs. 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom), the three-row model is likely to begin reaching customers as early as next month.

Following the initial launch delay, it is all pumped to introduced tomorrow in India. Under the hood, the Gravite will be powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine offered in two states of tune – naturally aspirated and turbocharged. Buyers can expect a five-speed manual transmission as standard along with an AMT option just as its Triber sibling.

A company-fitted CNG variant could also be introduced at a later stage. Built on the same platform as the Renault Triber, the Gravite is expected to feature a high level of localisation to maintain competitive pricing. The design stays in line with a modern approach – giving it different styling cues compared to its French sibling mainly on the outside.

It comes with a tall and upright silhouette to maximise cabin room. Up front, Nissan has incorporated its signature C-shaped LED lighting elements, a wide grille and a more sculpted bumper. Roof rails, protective cladding and alloy wheels ensure a subtle crossover-inspired touch and the rear gets sharp looking tail lamps and a busy bumper section.

Inside, the compact MPV features a flexible seven-seat layout with a flat floor to enhance space. The second row is expected to slide and recline while the third row caters primarily to short distance travel. Foldable rear seats allows owners to adjust the balance between passenger accommodation and luggage capacity as required.

Higher trims could add a 360-degree camera, wireless charging and connected vehicle technology.

Safety equipment is anticipated to comprise six airbags as standard along with ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill-start assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
