The new premium SUV from Volkswagen, the Tayron, has officially entered the Indian market with a sticker price of Rs. 46.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Offered exclusively in a fully equipped R-Line variant and assembled domestically, the model now sits at the top of the brand’s local portfolio as its most upmarket sports utility vehicle.
Powering the flagship is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit from the EA888 evo4 engine family, generating 204 PS along with 320 Nm of peak twisting force. The engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox while the firm’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive setup is included as a standard fitment.
Performance figures indicate its sporty credentials as the SUV can accelerate from standstill to 100 kmph in just 7.3 seconds and reach an electronically capped maximum speed of 224 kmph. Buyers interested in securing one can already place reservations with a booking amount of Rs. 51,000 through authorised outlets or the manufacturer’s official digital platform.
