Nissan Tekton will be underpinned by the same platform as the recently unveiled new Renault Duster and it will be equipped with a hybrid petrol engine as well

One of Nissan’s most significant upcoming launches is the all-new Tekton midsize SUV which is expected to arrive within the next few months. Before the Tekton’s arrival, the company introduced the Gravite compact MPV whose customer deliveries are slated to begin next month. Alongside these model, development work is already progressing on a three-row SUV planned for a later phase.

The Tekton’s importance lies in its segment placement. It indicates Nissan’s return to the fiercely contested midsize SUV class currently dominated by established players such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and other. The new model was initially scheduled to make its first public appearance at a dedicated brand showcase event this month but it didn’t turn out to be the case.

Under the hood, the SUV is expected to mirror the multi-powertrain approach seen in the latest Renault Duster. Entry variants could use a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol producing about 100 bhp and 160 Nm with a manual gearbox. A more powerful 1.3-litre turbo unit may deliver around 163 bhp and 280 Nm – offered with manual and dual-clutch transmissions.

At the top of the range, a strong hybrid configuration pairing a 1.8-litre petrol engine with dual electric motors and a small battery is expected to generate around 160 bhp. Although official cabin images are yet to surface, equipment details will be more or less similar to the 2026 India-spec Duster.

Likely highlights include a pair of digital displays – a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with integrated Google services and a 10.25-inch driver cluster – along with ventilated powered front seats, dual-zone climate control with an air purifier, wireless charging and a panoramic sunroof. Safety technology could extend to six airbags, a 360-degree camera system and Level 2 driver assistance features.

The overall design is set to draw cues from the larger Nissan Patrol – giving the Tekton a muscular stance with upright proportions, squared wheel arches and sleek lighting signatures. Styling elements such as a sculpted bonnet, pronounced shoulder lines and a full-width rear light bar will also be available.
