In the list of top 10 car brands in CY2025, Maruti Suzuki headed the standings ahead of Mahindra, Hyundai, Tata and Toyota
The PV market endured an auspicious CY2025 with total Vahan registrations reaching 43,51,640 units – up from 40,11,725 when compared to the same period the previous year, with a healthy 8.5 per cent year-on-year increase. The rise of over 3.39 lakh units shows that overall demand expanded across different segments and price brackets.
At the top of the table, Maruti Suzuki retained its dominant position with 17,83,129 registrations compared to 16,47,443 last year with an 8.2 per cent growth broadly matching the auto industry’s pace. This is the reason why its market share dipped slightly from 41.1 per cent to 41.0 per cent despite selling more cars in absolute numbers.
The biggest gainer among leading manufacturers was Mahindra which surged from 4,95,907 to 5,96,270 units. Its massive 20.2 per cent growth helped it increase share from 12.4 per cent to 13.7 per cent as it captured new buyers courtesy of its popularity in the compact and midsize SUV segments along with EVs.

The Creta continued to be the flag bearer for the brand.
Tata Motors posted moderate growth – rising from 5,27,231 to 5,50,271 units – a 4.4 per cent improvement. However, its share slipped from 13.1 per cent to 12.6 per cent. Meanwhile, Toyota delivered an impressive performance – jumping 19.6 per cent to 3,13,605 units and raising share from 6.5 per cent to 7.2 per cent.
