Mahindra was pushed to the fourth position by Hyundai and Tata with sales of 66,134 units and 63,331 units, respectively
The musical chair between Hyundai, Tata and Mahindra in a quest to become the second, third and fourth largest auto brand in India behind the leader Maruti Suzuki is getting more intense with each month passing. Feb 2026 was no different as with a few thousand units moving here and there, Hyundai dethroned Tata from the second spot while Mahindra also lost out on the third position and had to be content at fourth spot with sales of 60,685 units, including exports. The overall sales stood at 97,177 vehicles which include SUVs, LCVs (<3.5T), 3-wheelers, and export volumes.
As far as passenger vehicle (PV) sales is concerned, Mahindra sold a total of 60,018 units in Feb 2026 with a YoY growth of 19 percent. The brand had retailed 50,420 units in Feb 2025. The home-grown automaker has sold 6,00,004 units so far in FY26 (Apr 2025 – Feb 2026) in the domestic market against 5,03,439 units retailed during the same period last fiscal (Apr 2024 – Feb 2025). The YTD sales saw a growth of 19 percent.
Coming to the export business, Mahindra shipped 3,384 units from India in Feb 2026 against 3,059 units in Feb 2025 with a YoY growth of 11 percent. The YTD export volumes stand at 37,022 units in the first 11 months of FY26 as compared to 30,511 units during the same period in FY25. The export business has grown by 21 percent in this fiscal till date.

According to Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., ““February saw SUV sales of 60,018 units, a growth of 19% reflecting robust customer demand across the portfolio. Total vehicle sales stood at 97,177 units, an 18% year-on-year growth.” The commercial vehicle (CV) sales also surged by 10 percent on a YoY basis with a total of 24,585 units being sold last month.
Mahindra finished CY 2025 as the country’s second biggest automotive brand behind Maruti Suzuki with sales of 5.96,270 units. Its market share increased from 12.4 percent in CY 2024 to 13.7 percent in CY 2025. The SUV range comprising of Scorpio-N, XUV700, Thar, and Bolero witnessed exceptional demand across rural circuits and among aspirational buyers.

The company is ready to launch several new SUVs later this year in the Indian market. It will begin with Scorpio N facelift in Apr 2026 while the Thar facelift will hit the roads in the second half of this year. Mahindra is also expected to introduce the Scorpio Pik Up and Vision S Concept based SUV before the end of CY 2026. The production-ready BE.07 electric SUV is also likely to break cover by the end of 2026.
