Assembled in India from knocked-down kits, the new Mercedes V-Class priced just slightly higher than the Toyota Vellfire and significantly lower than the Lexus LM
First launched in India in the facelifted avatar in 2019, the third-generation Mercedes V-Class is back in showrooms. Following its discontinuation in our market in 2022, the luxury MPV got another facelift globally, and we are getting the latest version again.
While the old V-Class was a CBU import, originally priced at 1.1 crore rupees (ex-showroom), the new one is locally assembled and costs 1.4 crore rupees (ex-showroom). Mercedes-Benz says this is introductory pricing, indicating the luxury MPV will see a price hike in the near future. The new model is available to book with a deposit of 5 lakh rupees and will be first delivered to existing Mercedes-Benz customers.
Mercedes-Benz offers the new V-Class in India in a V300 petrol-electric mild-hybrid variant and a V300d diesel variant. The company states that India is the first market where it equips the luxury MPV with air suspension on both petrol and diesel variants.

The petrol-electric mild-hybrid variant employs the M254 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 170 kW (228 hp) and 370 Nm of torque, along with an integrated starter-generator (ISG) that provides 15 kW (20 hp) of extra power and 200 Nm of additional torque. A 9-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels. The diesel variant uses the OM654 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, brought to India in the highest-output version – 174 kW (233 hp)/500 Nm. It also features a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Mercedes-Benz manufactures the new V-Class in normal and long-wheelbase bodies, and it has only brought the latter to India. This means the new luxury MPV is 5,370 mm long, 1,928 mm wide, and 1,880 mm tall and has a 3,430 mm wheelbase. Mercedes-Benz has announced a 2+2+2 seating layout, but some reports say the company is giving an option for a more comfort-oriented 2+2 seating layout.

In the six-seat configuration, Mercedes-Benz equips the new V-Class with features like electric sliding doors, an electrically operable split tailgate, ventilated seats across all three rows, a 64-colour ambient lighting system, and a 640-watt, 15-speaker Burmester surround sound system with Dolby Atmos. In addition to a ventilation function, the second-row seats come with a 3-stage massage function, a calf support, deployable cupholders, and individual wireless charging pads.
On the safety front, Mercedes-Benz offers seven airbags, Driver Attention Warning, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, a 360º camera system, and many more features as standard.
