From JSW MG Motor to Toyota, four companies expected to launch at least five new big SUVs in India in the next 12 months
The VW Tayron is just the first of many new big SUVs coming to Indian showrooms soon. In the next twelve months, we expect at least five more big SUVs to arrive in our market.
1. MG Majestor

JSW MG Motor recently unveiled the Majestor as the facelifted version of the Gloster and plans to launch it in April. The new model features a noticeably more aggressive exterior, a more upmarket interior, and a host of new features, including massage front seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a new 12.3-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, a dual wireless smartphone charger, three differential locks, and Level 2 ADAS.

2. Skoda Kodiaq RS

The Skoda Kodiaq RS has been confirmed to be launched in India this year, and we expect it go on sale in October. Skoda manufactures the Kodiaq RS in 5- and 7-seat versions, but it may only bring the latter to our market. The former reaches 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds, while the latter takes 6.4 seconds, and both max out at 231 km/h. Unlike the Kodiaq, the Kodiaq RS will be imported as a CBU, which could push its price upwards of 60 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).
3. MG 520

MG 520 is the codename of a yet-to-be-announced rebadged version of the Wuling Starlight 560, and JSW MG Motor plans to launch it in the second half of 2026. The company will position it above the Hector/Hector Plus duo and offer it in plug-in hybrid and electric variants. Internationally, it offers this model in 5- and 7-seat versions, and it could bring both of them to our market. The plug-in hybrid variant delivers an EV-mode range of 125 kilometres, and the pure electric variant covers a distance of up to 500 kilometres on a single charge, both as per CLTC.

4. JSW SUV

JSW Motors Limited, JSW Group’s new, independent automotive company, will launch a Toyota Fortuner-rivalling D-segment SUV as its first car by November 2026. This model will be a rebadged version of Chinese automaker Chery’s Jetour T2 plug-in hybrid. The company plans to import its CKD kits from China and assemble them in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The Jetour T2 plug-in hybrid, depending on the configuration, can travel up to 162 kilometres in EV mode. Its rebadged version will have a few design tweaks, including vertical ORVMs, and could cost around 45 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).
5. Next-gen Toyota Fortuner

An all-new Toyota Fortuner is expected to be launched at the end of 2026, and that will be the third generation of the Hilux-derived SUV. It will have a sharper and classier exterior and a more elegant interior. It will likely pack a raft of new features, including an electric power steering, the Toyota Safety Sense 3 (TSS 3) suite of advanced driver assistance systems, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and seven airbags. It will likely carry over the current model’s 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine.
