Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM)’s most affordable three-row model is now even more accessible with a new base grade

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has silently rolled out a new ‘E’ trim for the Toyota Rumion, the rebadged version of the Maruti Ertiga. The new entry-level grade brings the MPV’s starting price to under 10 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

Priced at INR 9.55 lakh rupees (ex-showroom), the new E trim is 96,000 rupees cheaper than the previously base S trim, which costs 10.51 lakh rupees (ex-showroom). Needless to say, this major saving comes at the cost of de-contenting.

On the outside, the Toyota Rumion E features a chrome-trimmed front grille, chrome front bumper garnish, full wheel caps, and LED tail lamps. Unlike the Toyota Rumion S, it does not have body-coloured, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs with integrated turn signals or body-coloured door handles.

Inside, TKM equips the E grade of the Rumion with a 60:40-split second-row seat with one-touch slide and recline, a 50:50-split third-row seat with recline function, a dual-tone colour scheme, a 12-volt power socket, and power windows with a driver-side auto down function.

It excludes remote keyless entry, a front passenger-side seatback pocket, a sliding armrest with utility box, a passenger-side sun visor with vanity mirror, a chrome finish on the parking brake lever and gear shift knob, a centre console AC vent and a USB Type-C charging port in the second row, and an auto up function for the driver-side window from the S grade.

On the safety front, the Toyota Rumion E includes features like six airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, ESP, Hill Hold, height-adjustable front seat belts, rear parking sensors, etc. The only feature from the Toyota Rumion S missing here is a security alarm.

The Toyota Rumion E is only available with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 102 hp and 139 Nm of torque, linked to a 5-speed manual transmission. In comparison, TKM offers a 6-speed automatic transmission also in higher grades of the Rumion. In the S grade, customers can also choose a bi-fuel, CNG version of the 1.5-litre engine, in which the power and torque drop to 87 hp and 121.5 Nm, respectively, when driving in CNG mode.
