India’s popular and fast-growing mid-size SUV to continue seeing an influx of launches through the second quarter of the year
From the all-new Tata Sierra to the all-new Kia Seltos and the Maruti e-Vitara, three mid-size SUVs went on sale in India at the beginning of this year. Four more Hyundai Creta rivals are likely to be launched in the next few months, further expanding the choice in the mid-size SUV segment:
1. Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella is essentially the Maruti e Vitara with a more polished, European styling. A sleeker front, exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels, and tweaked tail lamps distinguish it from the original EV. It will be available in the same two single-motor FWD variants, one with a range of 440 kilometres and one with a range of 543 kilometres. Toyota Kirloskar Motor will likely launch the Urban Cruiser Ebella at the beginning of March.

2. All-new Renault Duster

The third-generation Renault Duster will be launched in India on 17 March. The all-new model will be available with features such as a power tailgate, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with a full map view, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google built-in, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, and 17 advanced driver assistance systems. Renault will offer it with 1.0- and 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engines initially and introduce a 1.8-litre petrol engine-based hybrid system option towards the end of the year.
3. New Skoda Kushaq

The Skoda Kushaq has undergone a facelift and now features sharper and more high-tech styling. A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a segment-first massaging rear seat, a segment-first 8-speed automatic transmission, rear disc brakes, and a panoramic sunroof are among the main upgrades. Skoda will launch the new Kushaq in March.

4. Nissan Tekton

The Nissan Tekton, expected to be revealed in March and launched in April, will be the corporate cousin of the third-generation Renault Duster. It will be differentiated with a bolder exterior, with some inspiration from the seventh-generation Nissan Patrol. A sharper and boxier front-end would give it a more imposing look and clearly distinguish it from the Renault model. Features and specifications are likely to be mostly the same.
5. New VW Taigun

The VW Taigun will likely get a facelift and go on sale in the updated version in April. It is expected to get redesigned headlamps, new 17-inch alloy wheels, tweaked tail lamps, and restyled bumpers. Like the Skoda Kushaq, the VW Taigun will likely gain a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a massaging rear seat, a panoramic sunroof, rear disc brakes, and an 8-speed automatic transmission.
