In the list of top 10 compact SUVs in Feb 2026, Tata Motors’ pair of Nexon and Punch ruled the charts ahead of Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Fronx
The compact SUV segment continues to be one of the most competitive spaces in the car market and the February 2026 sales chart shows just how closely contested it is. A combination of familiar best-sellers and relatively newer entrants appear in the top ten list with several models posting notable year-on-year growth while a few others experienced declines.
Heading the pack once again was the Tata Nexon which recorded 19,430 units in February 2026. Compared to 15,349 units sold during the same month last year, the compact SUV registered a healthy 27 per cent growth. In second place was the Tata Punch which delivered another impressive performance with 18,748 units sold.
The numbers resulted in a significant jump from 14,559 units in February 2025 with a 29 per cent increase. The Punch continues to attract buyers looking for an affordable yet small SUV and is available in both ICE and electric versions just as its bigger sibling, the Nexon. Both iterations received a mid-cycle update with multiple changes recently.

Third place on the chart went to the Maruti Suzuki Brezza which posted 17,863 units during the month. While it doesn’t lead the segment anymore, the Brezza still remains a top seller for Maruti Suzuki. Sales improved from 15,392 units recorded in February last year with a 16 per cent year-on-year increase.
One of the most noticeable changes in the rankings came from the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The crossover registered 13,898 units in February 2026 but with a notable decline compared to the 21,461 units sold during the same month in 2025. The 35 per cent drop makes it one of the biggest year-on-year declines among the top models.

Further down the list, the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet continued to hold their demand. The Venue recorded 10,494 units – slightly higher than last year’s 10,125 units with a modest 4 per cent growth. The Sonet, on the other hand, posted 9,750 units compared to 7,598 units a year earlier with a 28 per cent increase.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO registered 8,637 units while the Skoda Kylaq recorded 4,532 units with an appreciable 25 per cent growth. The Hyundai Exter and Toyota Taisor experienced year-on-year declines with sales of 4,200 units and 2,854 units respectively.
